FedEx connects Qingdao with Memphis

FedEx has increased capacity between China and the USA with five flights a week connecting Qingdao with Memphis.

The flights start at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, fly to Osaka in Japan before heading to Memphis, Tennessee.

Trials started in May this year with one flight a week and have been increased to five a week, operating from Monday to Friday using a Boeing 777 Freighter.

Integrating the flights with FedEx’s ground network in Shandong makes its Same Day Service for outbound customers available to selected areas including Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai, Jinan, Zibo and Weifang.

The increased frequency was announced alongside the inauguration of FedEx’s Qingdao international gateway facility.

Qingdao is FedEx’s fifth gateway in China after Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.

Located at Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport, the gateway covers 2,000 square metres and is equipped with a fully automated sorting system.

Kawal Preet, President Asia Pacific of FedEx, says, “Our expanded flight linking Qingdao to the US strengthens one of the world’s most vital trade corridors, positioning Asian businesses for success, especially during the ongoing festive peak shopping season.”
