Import shipments at the complex can be unloaded from aircraft, broken down and either stored or handed to waiting customers within an entirely temperature-controlled environment and exports have a similar transit from warehouse to aircraft.
All additional processes such as check-weighing and X-ray screening take place within the temperature-controlled environment.
The Cool Chain Complex is the first facility at the airport to have a climate-controlled area for storing dangerous substances, featuring three separate temperature zones.
It has been designed to minimise the time and distance between aircraft and storage, with direct airside access and its own dedicated landside truck docks.
Temperature zones of 15C, 2-8C and -25 to -15C cater for every type of commodity with all zones featuring real-time temperature monitoring and full CCTV coverage.
