Heathrow airport cuts Head of Cargo role

As further changes to senior management continue, Heathrow airport has taken the controversial decision to do away with the position of Head of Cargo.

The airport’s current Head of Cargo, Tim Mayes, will therefore step down from his role, effective immediately.

Mayes informed the industry of his departure in a brief correspondence. He stated: “The Head of Cargo position will no longer exist so I will be leaving the business with immediate effect. Thank you for your kind support, it has been a pleasure to have worked with you.”

The decision to cut the role is believed to be part of the airport’s efforts to reduce costs. The positions of Aviation Director and Senior Cargo Manager for Heathrow airport remain appointed.
