IAG Cargo invites applicants for innovation programme

IAG Cargo, together with Vueling and Iberia, is seeking applications for the 2019 International Airlines Group (IAG) Hangar 51 global innovation programme.

Start-ups of all sizes and growth stages from around the world with ideas for transforming cargo services are invited to apply to a 10-week mentorship programme, working alongside IAG businesses as well as receiving mentoring from senior leadership and experts from across the Group.

Ideas or products to revolutionise cargo services could include advanced technologies to improve asset tracking and supply chain visibility, optimising capacity through machine learning and AI, or use of autonomous vehicles, robotics, or blockchain to drive efficiencies.

At the end of the programme, successful applicants will showcase their achievements at a Demo Day before an audience comprising the Group’s senior management team and investors, to compete for investment from IAG’s multimillion-pound fund.

This is the second year of a cargo-specific category in the Hangar 51 programme to support IAG Cargo’s innovation agenda.

Carly Morris, Head of Innovation at IAG Cargo commented: “Now, more than ever before, there exists a huge opportunity for new technologies to transform the airfreight industry. IAG Cargo is delighted to once again be part of the Hangar 51 innovation programme and to offer start-ups a chance to embed themselves in our business and develop their ideas on a truly global scale. We are looking forward to working alongside the next generation of disruptive start-up companies to optimise the way we operate and deliver an even better service to our customers.”
