Incheon Airport Community awarded CEIV Lithium Batteries

The Incheon Airport Community has become the first airport community to receive CEIV Lithium Batteries certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The certificate was handed over in an awards ceremony, which was held on yesterday (25 May) at the Grand Hyatt Incheon, celebrating Incheon International Airport’s achievement of being the first airport community certified to CEIV Lithium Batteries standard.

To acquire the certificate, Incheon International Airport Corporation established the Incheon Airport Community in December 2022, consisting of 11 companies who underwent a rigorous certification procedure, which resulted in every member successfully obtaining the certificate.

The certified companies are Korean Air, Asiana Airlines, Jeju Air, Swissport Korea, DB Schenker, LX Pantos, Lotte Global Logistics, Seoul Air Cargo, Sejin Logistics and Hyundai Glovis.

Hee-Jeong Lee, Acting President of the Corporation, says, “As the world's first airport to obtain this certification, we will lead the way in the lithium battery air transport market.”

CEIV Li-Batt goes with Incheon’s other CEIV Pharma certificates, which were obtained in June 2019 and renewed in September 2022, and Fresh, which was achieved in November 2022.

The airport corporation says it will collaborate with airports worldwide to establish an international organisation division dedicated to ensuring the safe transportation of lithium batteries.
