As CEO of Aruba Airport, Meijs navigated the airport through the pandemic and implemented a new corporate strategy with his team.
The strategy aims to make Aruba one of the safety, most sustainable and future-proofed airports in South America and the Caribbean.
The first phase of Gateway 2030, a $300 million investment programme, was recently delivered.
Meijs also played a key role in establishing the Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports to improve the safety, connectivity and sustainability of airports in the region.
He says, “I am looking forward to start working on the ambitions as have been formulated in the strategic plans and doing this in a joint effort with all colleagues and the external stakeholders of the airport.”
Van Stekelenburg has been interim CEO since September 2023 and will remain as an advisor until the start of 2025.
