Kale to digitalise cargo at Chicago Rockford

Kale Info Solutions has signed an agreement with Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) to implement its Airport Cargo Community System (ACS).

The ACS reduces manual documentation and data entry time, increasing process efficiency and reducing truck congestion and streamlining cargo flows.

Deploying the system will allow cargo handlers to receive real-time updates on estimated cargo arrival times, and advanced slot booking capabilities will enable trucking companies and ground handlers to coordinate landside freight movements, eliminating waiting times and allow them to allocate resources more efficiently.

Slots can be booked on the mobile app and adjusted at any time to accommodate peaks and troughs in truck arrivals at the airport.

The deal was announced on the second day of the 13th Air Cargo Handling & Logistics Conference held in Athens, Greece, from 5-7 September by Amar More, President of Kale Info Solutions, and Zach Oakley, Deputy Director of Operations and Planning at Chicago Rockford.

More says, “Our ACS is built on the principle of enabling a cohesive ecosystem and driving efficiencies in air cargo operations with the highest level of data accuracy, security, and compliance.

“We look forward to helping RFD enhance business efficiencies at the airport, attract more airlines, and drive its sustainability credentials.”

Mike Dunn, Executive Director of RFD, adds, “Kale will allow us to further streamline the digitisation and movement of cargo at RFD today and to keep up with the demands of our growing cargo operations in the future.”

Cargo throughput at RFD has tripled in the last 5 years and increased 25% in 2021 as the airport becomes an important Midwest hub for e-commerce and international trade.
