Korean Air renews IATA CEIV Pharma certificate

Korean Air has renewed its IATA Center of Excellence for Independent Validators (CEIV) Pharma certificate.

To earn this certification, Korean Air had more than 280 points evaluated by experts including handling procedures, storage facilities, equipment, and the ability to adhere to regulations.

The certificate is valid for 3 years and having gained certification in 2019, Korean Air set up a taskforce in February this year to prepare for recertification.

Facilities in South Korea have been updated with the opening of the Cool Cargo Center at Incheon International Airport’s Terminal 2.

Through a joint investment with Incheon International Airport Corporation, it was constructed in September 2021, significantly improving the service for temperature-sensitive cargo by minimising exposure and reducing unnecessary movement and traffic.

Korean Air’s cargo services transported supplies during the pandemic including cooperating with the Korean Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, and the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, to form a vaccine taskforce for Covid vaccines.

More than 100 million doses of vaccines have been shipped to date along with other medical supplies such as Covid treatment and diagnostic kits.
