Kuehne + Nagel offers sustainable fuel for airfreight shipments

Kuehne + Nagel is offering customers the option to purchase Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) for each airfreight shipment to cut carbon emissions.

The service is available on all airfreight quoting platforms and channels, and customers can opt for SAF regardless of airlines used, origin or destination.

SAF produces some CO2 emissions but Kuehne + Nagel says carbon neutrality is achieved by substituting each litre of jet fuel kerosene with 1.33 litres of SAF.

Pricing for SAF is linked to the weight of a shipment, and Kuehne + Nagel calculates the SAF usage and provides a quote on a per kg airfreight pricing basis.

Yngve Ruud, Member of the Management Board responsible for Air Logistics at Kuehne + Nagel says: “As part of the Net Zero Carbon programme and migration to a low carbon business model, we keep developing easy and transparent sustainable shipping options so that our customers always have a choice of how they want to minimise the environmental impact of their shipments.”
