LATAM Cargo helps flower exports blossom with 18th freighter

LATAM Cargo has taken delivery of its 18th freighter, which will provide capacity for flower exports from Colombia and Ecuador.

The new aircraft, a Boeing 767-300BCF, means LATAM Cargo has been able to add 7 more frequencies departing from Quito, Bogota and Medellin, increasing capacity for the floriculture sector by 20%.

Since 2019, LATAM Cargo has tripled operations from Medellin and Bogota, going from 12 flights a week in 2019 to 35 this year.

In Ecuador, LATAM Cargo’s presence has increased 131% with weekly departures from Quito rising from 13 to nearly 30 this year.

Andres Bianchi, CEO of LATAM Cargo, says, “When we embarked on the cargo fleet growth plan, we made a firm commitment to our customers to support them in their long-term needs. The strategic decisions and the addition of this new cargo aircraft are a direct response to this commitment.”

The new aircraft strengthens LATAM Cargo’s network from Miami, which has gained links to San Jose dos Campos in Brazil, Guayaquil in Ecuador, Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, San Salvador in El Salvador and Georgetown in Guyana in recent weeks.
