Twenty tonnes of chargeable weight will fly each week on the Shanghai – Frankfurt carbon-neutral freighter flight, which is the only regular full charter connection that is 100% covered by sustainable aviation fuel (SAF).
Lenovo’s products on the flights powered by renewable waste and residue materials such as used cooking oils will include laptops, notebooks and PCs.
Gareth Davies, Head of Global Logistics at Lenovo says: “Sustainability is critical to our business and mission of delivering smarter technology for all. We are proud that we are further enhancing our solutions through this collaboration with DB Schenker and Lufthansa Cargo.”
Ashwin Bhat, Chief Commercial Officer at Lufthansa Cargo says: “An increasing number of customers realises that we need to work together across industries to achieve our shared goal. Only together, we can make a real difference.”
By using SAF offered by DB Schenker in cooperation with Lufthansa Cargo, Lenovo saves around 20 tonnes of conventional kerosene per flight and around 62 tonnes of greenhouse gases per week.
Around 16 tonnes of CO2 from the production and transport of SAF are also offset by compensatory measures.
