Lufthansa Cargo and IBS digitalise specialist product handling

Lufthansa Cargo is partnering with IBS Software to digitalise handling processes for specialist products including dangerous goods, pharmaceuticals and fresh produce.

They will use IBS’s iPartner Handling product to extend checks and standard operating procedures to its ground handling agent network.

It integrates with IBS’s iCargo cloud platform to provide a single access set of mobile and web tools for handling agents to carry out specialised workflows and tasks.

Lufthansa Cargo can view information from handling agents in real time, improving the quality and service levels of cargo products.

The platform offers digital connectivity options via APIs and has been designed to work with future initiatives such as ONE Record.

It will be rolled out in two phases, with over 30 stations across Europe, Asia and the Americas going live to start with, followed by additional stations and new use-cases and enhancements being added later.

Dr Jan-Wilhem Breithaupt, Vice President Global Fulfillment Management at Lufthansa Cargo says: “Aside from directly improving the data quality and thus making processes more efficient, the 'Mobile Digital Handling' initiative also opens up tremendous opportunities for us for further innovating and improving how we work with our partners along the whole supply chain.”

Ashok Rajan, Senior Vice President and Head of Cargo and Logistics at IBS Software says: “The iPartner Handling solution takes us one step further towards our over-arching goal of building a digital ecosystem for our iCargo customers that can help generate positive business outcomes for them quickly and effectively.”
