Lufthansa Cargo has signed cooperation agreements with Shanghai Airport Authority, Air China Cargo and China Postal Express & Logistics, reinforcing its commitment to the Chinese market.

The agreements were signed by Ashwin Bhat, CEO of Lufthansa Cargo who met business leaders and other important dignitaries.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) was signed by Lufthansa Cargo and Shanghai Airport Authority to enhance operational efficiencies and improve customer experience.

It recognises the goal of developing Shanghai Pudong International Airport into the world's most competitive Asia-Pacific hub.

Feng Xin, CEO of Shanghai Airport Authority, says, “The last 25 years of partnership through our joint venture have yielded excellent results for both parties. The MOU marks the beginning of our cooperation journey, and we look forward to even closer collaboration in the years ahead.”

Bhat says, “Shanghai is the biggest freight hub for Lufthansa Cargo next to our hub in Frankfurt and the MOU gives us the confidence and commitment to further contribute to business excellence in this strategically important market.”

Bhat met Hua Yuan, Vice Mayor of Shanghai with a delegation from Lufthansa Cargo to report on industry developments and Lufthansa Cargo’s strategic direction in Shanghai and China.

They discussed sustainability and digital development, cross-border e-commerce and cooperation with local enterprises.

Yuan says, “Lufthansa Cargo is encouraged to further increase investment and business layout in Shanghai, deepen transformation and cooperation with Chinese related enterprises in the fields of aviation digitisation, intelligence and greening, and make contributions to promoting the development of Shanghai's overseas logistics transportation and promoting Sino-German economic and trade exchanges.”

An MOU was signed with Air China Cargo to take their long-standing partnership to the next level at a ceremony attended by Bhat and Jun Li, CEO of Air China Cargo.

Li says, “The cooperation between the two parties will further stabilize the logistics corridor between China and Germany and will provide customers with more choices and solutions.”

Lufthansa Cargo and China Postal Express & Logistics (CPEL) launched a strategic cooperation framework to deepen their partnership and promote mutual development.

They will cooperate in the areas of innovation and development, capacity and transport offer, settlement efficiency, digitalisation, global cooperation and sustainable development.

Lin Zejian, Deputy General Manager of CPEL, says, “The new strategic cooperation is not only conducive to consolidating the existing business cooperation between the two sides, but also can develop more commercial value in new business fields.”
