Maastricht appoints Dean Boljuncic to lead sales department

Europe Appointments Airports
Maastricht Aachen Airport has appointed Dean Boljuncic as Head of Commercial Development, leading the newly launched sales department.

The former Croatian Air Force pilot has previously held roles at Pula Airport in Croatia and worked as Head of Aviation Department and Partnerships at Eindhoven Airport.

In his new role, Boljuncic will drive the sustainable growth at the airport and develop strategic partnerships with Dutch aviation shareholders, forwarders and airlines.

Jonas van Stekelenburg, CEO of Maastricht Aachen Airport, says, “I am confident that Dean is the right person to spearhead our new sales department - he has already hit the ground running with exciting ideas to boost our cargo services.”

“He has a proven track record of elevating European airports, and his experience as a pilot and his education in aeronautics also give him a unique perspective on the operational side of the job,” he adds.

In addition to attracting new cargo customers and managing existing partnerships, Boljuncic will increase cargo routes, capacity and freight volumes.

Developing aviation stakeholder relationships is a key priority for Boljuncic, who will work on supporting the launch of a Regional Cargo Community supported by Air Cargo Netherlands.

Boljuncic says, “My mission is to not only bolster the long-term economic sustainability of Maastricht, but also its environmental sustainability through the reduction of emissions and noise pollution. Sustainability cannot be an afterthought – we must factor in environmental issues when making business decisions.”
