
The horses were transported from Liege, Belgium to AlUla, Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site, for the prestigious event which offers the highest prize money in the sport.

Equine logistics requires preparation at every stage from providing the right horse stall to placing wooden shavings on the floor for the horse’s comfort and to absorb urine.
The pilots and loadmasters work with grooms to ensure horse stalls are loaded correctly and secured properly for the aircraft’s balance and the horses’ well-being.
The specialists must ensure that temperatures are comfortable with ventilation, and in-flight grooms make sure water and hay are available.
Grooms communicate with pilots during the flight who are responsible for a comfortable environment in the cargo hold.
Pilots will inform grooms of any changes in flight conditions such as turbulence or delays.
