The expansion of the facility officially opened on Tuesday 13 February, increasing capacity from 49,000 tons to 85,000 tons per year with new temperature controlled, animal and valuable cargo rooms.
Menzies was one of the first occupants to lease space at BUD Cargo City, which opened in 2019, and growing cargo volumes has required Menzies to upgrade the facility, which includes a 3,000 square-metre warehouse expansion, a 1,500 square-metre manoeuvring area for trucks and GSE, and a 300 square-metre office and social space.
The expanded facility has been operational since December with Menzies committing more than $1 million to the construction of the building and $6 million to the ongoing lease.
