Mitteldeutsche Airport and AOT sign cargo agreement

Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding has signed an agreement with Airports of Thailand (AOT) to develop cargo operations and route development.

The Sister Airport Agreement was signed at the Rosewood Bangkok Hotel on 20 September with representatives from both airports in attendance.

The agreement was launched by Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding, Anake Teeraviwatchai, Senior Executive Vice President (Corporate Strategy) and Sirote Duangratana, Senior Executive Vice President (Business Development and Marketing) of AOT.

Other AOT employees and Sandra Hamann, Senior Manager Strategic Projects at Mitteldeutsche Airport Holdings were also in attendance.

Leipzig/Halle Airport is the second largest cargo airport in Germany and the third largest in Europe, handling 1.6 million tonnes a year.

It is home to DHL’s largest hub and is the first regional airfreight centre in Europe for Amazon Air.

State-owned AOT operates 6 international airports in Thailand, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai, Phuket and Hat Yai airports.
