Niger Air Cargo restarts Niamey freighter flights

Africa GSAs
Niger Air Cargo has resumed weekly freighter services to Niamey, the only direct freighter services between the west African nation and Europe.

The ECS Group company restarted the weekly Boeing 747 Freighter services between Liege Airport in Belgium and Niamey International Airport on 8 October, having suspended services due to the military coup in Niger closing airports and airspace.

The service provides links for Niger’s domestic market and across borders to Nigeria and Mali.

It transports agricultural products, raw materials, apparel and healthcare products, and during the pandemic it transported vital medical and relief goods.

Adrien Thominet, Executive Chairman of ECS Group says air cargo is vital to land-locked Niger and the team in Niamey have been supporting customers since operations started in 2011.

He says, “Demand to Niger is quickly recovering to previous year levels and looks equally promising as we head into the new year. Thanks go to our Niger Air Cargo team which continues to prove its resilience and flexibility in the face of unpredictable challenges.”
