Perishable volumes grow 20% across Emirates SkyCargo network

Emirates SkyCargo is scaling up its cool chain capacity as volumes of time- and temperature-sensitive cargo increases at double-digit rates.

In May, Emirates SkyCargo transported 3,590 tonnes of fresh cut flowers, up 20% on the previous year with Ecuador and Kenya the top 2 export origin locations.

Exports from Ecuador travelling with Emirates SkyCargo were up 21% compared to 2022.

The Netherlands remains a top import and export location with the UAE, Australia and Saudi Arabia the other top import locations.

Emirates SkyCargo handles an average of 22,500 tonnes of perishables a month, varying from mangoes from Pakistan, salmon from Norway to flowers from Kenya.

In Dubai, Emirates SkyCargo’s cool chain handling services have been developed with a focus on fast connections and transfers with its 2 hubs offering a 3 hour air-to-air transfer.
