Prada invests in SAF with DHL Global Forwarding

Prada Group has made its first investment in Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) with DHL Global Forwarding using its GoGreen Plus service.

The investment builds on the partnership between DHL and Prada Group which saved approximately 4,500 metric tons of CO2e in 2023, around 7% of Prada Group’s total transport associated emissions.

Mario Zini, Managing Director of DHL Global Forwarding Italy, says, “In today's world, it is crucial to establish a clear roadmap for decarbonisation that involves carriers, SAF manufacturers, regulators, and customers. We are proud that Prada Group has chosen to leverage the expertise of DHL Global Forwarding to form a partnership that we believe will drive the much-needed change forward.”

SAF is made from waste sources such as used cooking oil and food waste, and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by at least 80% compared to conventional aviation fuel.

Air carriers use sustainable fuel on behalf of DHL with emissions reductions transferred to DHL, which are allocated to shippers in the form of certificates.

The SAF used by DHL for the Prada Group is certified by the International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC), which guarantees that the fuel is produced in compliance with rigorous sustainability standards.

As an independent initiative, the ISCC promotes sustainable, traceable, deforestation-free and climate-friendly supply chains covering materials including sustainable agricultural biomass, biogenic wastes and residues, non-biological renewable materials and recycled carbon-based materials.
