Qatar Airways Cargo relaunches Mail product

Qatar Airways Cargo has relaunched its Mail solution with key enhancements, offering a suite of services to cater for customer requirements.

Released in time for World Post Day, the Mail solution offers Express Mail, Priority Mail, Standard Mail and Empty Mail Receptacles services.

The Mail product complies with standards set by the International Air Transport Association and the Universal Postal Union.

One enhancement is 100% EDI (electronic data interchange) being rolled out at over 110 stations, which are all equipped with handheld Android scanners.

Traditionally serving 1 customer per origin based on their unique post office identification (IMPC) code, the product can now cater to the requirements of targeted agents across the region, allowing Qatar Airways Cargo to accept mail shipments from multiple customers from the same origin, regardless of the IMPC code used.

Specialised support teams are in place to support customers and customers can perform real-time tracking of their consignments from the start until the end.

Miguel Rodriguez Moreno, Head of Cargo Products at Qatar Airways, says, “Combined with hassle-free billing and reconciliation through IATA PASS and PARIS, as well as swift ramp transfers in Doha, we are confident that our Mail product will deliver exceptional value to our customers.”

Qatar Airways Cargo’s dedicated airmail facility in Doha covers 4,900 square metres and has a daily handling capacity of 500 tonnes, the equivalent of 15,000 mailbags per day.

The tracking solutions and EDI capabilities at stations allow Qatar Airways to share Response to Documents International Transport advice (RESDITs) for critical milestones during a mailbag’s journey.

The facility is equipped with in-house screening facilities, advanced X-ray scanners, Explosive Detection Dogs and Explosive Trace Detection capabilities.
