Senator joins LATAM Cargo's Let's Fly Neutral programme

Senator International Chile has joined LATAM Cargo’s Let’s Fly Neutral programme to offset 100% of its CO2 emissions.

Through the programme, every ton compensated by the customer will be matched by LATAM Cargo, and they are given access to a platform to calculate their CO2 footprint and purchase carbon credits to support projects in South America benefiting the environment and local communities.

The carbon offsets available are Voluntary Emissions Reduction (VER) units, which are certified under internationally recognised standards such as the VCS, the Gold Standard, the American Carbon Registry, and the Climate Action Reverse, and the other available offset are United Nations Certified Emissions Reduction (CER) units.

A project benefiting from Senator’s funding is the Luz del Norte Photovoltaic Solar Park in the Atacama Desert, which aims to make Chile a leader in solar energy, and create business and job opportunities in the Copiapó region.

Pablo Arze, Commercial Manager of Senator International Chile, says, “Dealing with environmental impacts and contributing to renewable energy projects is an urgent need. That is why when we got LATAM Cargo’s invitation to be part of this initiative, we signed on straight away.”

Cristina Oñate, Senior Manager of Marketing and Products at LATAM Cargo, adds, “Let’s Fly Neutral represents our spirit when it comes to sustainability. It promotes positive impacts by focusing resources on projects with international standards that produce an immediate effect, and prioritises initiatives with environmental benefits, as well as social and economic benefits for the surrounding communities.”
