The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) and Airports Council International (ACI) have strengthened their partnership to improve cargo operations at airports.

The memorandum of understanding (MOU) has the objectives of improving safety, efficiency and sustainability of cargo operations within the airport ecosystem to benefit the aviation industry and related stakeholders.

A key point of the MOU will focus on developing joint advocacy programmes in the context of ICAO events aimed at facilitating the sustainable growth and development of the aviation industry with a focus on cargo.

They will establish joint programmes or provide mutual support for industry initiatives, particularly in the areas of aviation workforce and social sustainability.

The associations will provide mutual support and collaboration for actions and initiatives to achieve Net Zero by 2050.

They will participate in each other’s working groups and committees to provide expertise and strategic orientation, and collaborate on establishing relevant industry guidance material and technical recommendations.

Relevant activities such as events or publications will be cross-promoted to members or relevant regulatory authorities relevant documents, data and information will be shared as needed.

Steven Polmans, Chairman of TIACA, says, “By coming together on key items, we are working together to support the industry in its sustainable growth and development, while ensuring the most efficient and safe operation possible.”

Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General and CEO of ACI, says, “We are pleased to be strengthening cooperation with TIACA to improve the overall levels of safety, efficiency, and sustainability of cargo operations. Through joint advocacy, programmes, and initiatives, our collective efforts will contribute to a more efficient aviation ecosystem for all.”

Glyn Hughes, Director General of TIACA, adds, “Cooperation with organisations like ACI is essential to the mission to our association. It allows both bodies to better serve their members and the industry. We are excited to get to work and create strong synergies between the two organisations, particularly in the area of sustainability.”
