TIACA launches 5th Air Cargo Sustainability Awards

The International Air Cargo Association (TIACA) has opened the 5th edition of the Air Cargo Sustainability Awards for applications.

Applicants are asked to demonstrate solutions and practices making positive changes in areas aligned with the 8 key objectives for a more sustainable air cargo industry found in TIACA’s Sustainability Roadmap.

The areas are environment covering decarbonisation, elimination of waste and protection of biodiversity; society covering supporting local economies and communities and improvement of lives and well being; and culture and leadership covering improvement of efficiencies and profitability, attraction, retention and development of employees and building and nurturing partnerships.

The awards are split into the Corporate Prize for a corporation, international organisation or scholar and the Start-Up and Small Business Prize for new companies and small businesses.

In the start-up and small business category, the winner will be awarded $10,000 and 2 runners-up will receive $2,500 each.

The awards are being sponsored by CHAMP Cargosystems, with CEO Chris McDermott saying, “We renew our call to everyone in air cargo for fresh ideas to maintain our momentum in creating a sustainable future for our industry. We are delighted to be sponsoring these important sustainability awards once again and look forward to receiving many high calibre entries this year.”

Steven Polmans, Chair of TIACA, says, “The past few years have shown us just how innovative our industry is when we put our minds to it. I am excited to see all the initiatives that the industry is working on to make air cargo sustainable. Once again, we very much appreciate the support from our Sustainability Awards Sponsor, CHAMP Cargosystems.”

Applications will be accepted until 15 September and a panel of industry and sustainability experts will select a corporate winner and 3 start-up/small business finalists.

The finalists will be invited to present their solutions at the TIACA Executive Summit, which is being held in Brussels from 6-9 November.
