Volga-Dnepr flies Covid aid to Namibia

Volga-Dnepr Airlines has operated two charter flights from Leipzig to Windhoek to help Namibia in its fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

Two Antonov AN-124-100s carried over 95 tonnes of medical supplies, including masks and respirators from Leipzig/Halle Airport, on behalf of the German government.

The direct client was the European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Office, who has initiated building a logistics centre at Leipzig/Halle within the RescEU programme.

The German Red Cross will also set up a logistics centre for disaster control at the airport as part of the RescEU programme.
