Willy Ruf appointed MD for Switzerland by dnata

Willy Ruf has been appointed Managing Director for Switzerland by dnata, a role he will start on 1 January 2024.

He will oversee dnata’s ground handling and cargo business and operations at Geneva Airport and Zurich Airport, managing a team of 1,100 employees who serve more than 30 airlines.

Ruf will report to Stewart Angus, Regional CEO for Europe and replaces Roberto Feijoo Lopez, who is leaving dnata to pursue new opportunities.

Angus said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Willy, who has demonstrated exceptional management skills and steadfast commitment to excellence as our operations leader in Geneva. As a respected and experienced leader in our industry, he is well-equipped to contribute significantly to our strategic objectives and strengthen dnata’s market presence in Switzerland.”

dnata has invested heavily in infrastructure and equipment including green ground support equipment (GSE) in Switzerland with investments including 5 new hybrid de-icing trucks, increasing the percentage of electric GSE in dnata’s Swiss fleet to 35%.

The OneCargo system has been rolled out in Switzerland, automating key business and operational functions including safety and quality monitoring, reporting and ULD management with an integrated, cloud-based platform.

AI-driven tools and analytics enhance visibility on sales and business performance, allowing customers to match real-time demand with available capacity.

In the 2022-23 financial year, dnata’s team served 7 million passengers and handled over 60,000 tonnes of cargo at Geneva and Zurich airports.
